From 1994- 1997 we produced hundreds of Deck mouthpieces. All of the "Bronx Billy Clubs" were made of brass with gold or silver plate. Over the years I've had many requests to make some of those models for individuals. Unfortunately it is not economically practical to make this piece for one-off orders.
So, after 14 years, for a second time this year, we are offering all 6 of the six different models in stainless steel(no brass) by reservation only. The mouthpieces will be individually serial numbered. The numbers in this second series will begin with "A". The rim and exterior are bright polished, shank and cup are matte finished. Bright buff on the cup is available as an option. The basic price is $175. Considering the original price for a gold plated brass model in the 90's was $350- we think this is a good deal.
The #3 had some unique features; a massive exterior with 32.6mm ID rim and a 9.52mm bore(.375 in.). It was one important element along with our Harwood bass trombone mouthpiece, that helped characterize the sound of the New York Phil. low brass section in the 90's.
For this limited run, we are offering the option of a 33.2mm and 33.5mm rim for players who require a larger ID. The contour on these larger rims will maintain the original contour of the 32.6mm standard. Also you will have the option of a smaller bore .331 - 8.4mm which has proven effective in the Mk.5 Ordnance (old LM5) which utilizes the Deck #3 cup.
In all, there were three models in the series with the option of a standard rim or a flatter rim"- "F".
The Deck #2 and Deck #1 have identical rims to the #3. They had a conical Helleberg style cup. #2 had the .375- 9.52mm bore of the #3 and the #1 had a .323- 8.2mm bore. The #1 has been opened to many different bores sizes and we provide that option to you in this offering.
The models that are available for this offering are the 3, 3F, 2, 2F, 1, 1F. This is a great opportunity to replace your old worn brass Deck.
